The Arts & Crafts Gift Shop 2018 Board of Directors
The Arts and Crafts Association is a "Not for Profit" project started in 1962 by the Mountain Home Women's Club as a Saturday venture. After successfully participating in an arts and crafts fair at the Baxter County Courthouse Square, the group rented space in a building on West 6th St. and began selling arts and crafts on a daily basis, in addition to sponsoring two Craft Shows each year. After several moves in and around Mountain Home, the gift shop has been open in it's current location at 10 E. 7th Street in Mountain Home, Arkansas since 1993, again, "on the courthouse square" where it all started.
Through the years the association roster has had as few as 20 active members to over 100. At the present time we have 28 members/artisans - each member pays annual dues of $12.00 and a 20% commission to the association on their sales. Each member works 2 days a month. All items in the shop are juried, to insure a wide selection of hand crafted, quality items for our customers. Membership is always open and we actively seek new members, those who have a talent for the traditional crafts and those with new innovative techniques. The only criteria is that all items must be handcrafted by the member (no re-sells). We encourage all members to keep the traditions of "hand crafted" alive while experiencing new methods and materials.
